The pride project of the Club is the Rotary School and College at Mirpur, Dhaka. The Club has Contributed more than Tk. 50 lac for its construction and maintenance from the club fund and member's contributions. The project was taken up as an adult literacy center in 1976 and has blossomed into a full-fledged High School with about one thousand students of the community.
The Club organized 161 eye camps and in these camps more than 1, 55,000 patients were treated and 12,600 cataract operations were successfully conducted.
We were the first club to have donated intraocular lenses to poor patients during 1990 -1991.
The Club organized Braille Library of BNSB and donated a number of radio tape recorders with cassettes. The Club also donated Radio and Cassettes to visually handicapped centre at Asadgate. Mohammadpur, Dhaka, A Rotary Club from Japan also joined in this project.
The Club organized three Rotaract Clubs namely The Rotaract Club of Dhaka North West, Rotaract Club of Jahangirnagar University and The Rotaract Club of Mahanagar North West.
The Club awarded Scholarships to more than 1000 meritorious but poor students of different Schools, Universities and Colleges in Bangladesh and donated lump sum grants to 60 students and other needy individuals. Two students, one at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the other at BUET, finished their studies and are fruitfully employed now . They have been receiving scholarships from the club since the beginning of their studies in these institutions. Last year three more students have been included in this programme. The Club has a permanent Scholarship Fund.
The Club donated cash money, clothes and medicines to flood victims of Rajshahi in 1987, Moulovi Bazar (Sylbet) in 1983, Tangail in 1983, Dhaka in 1984, Rangpur in 1995, Sureshwar in 1986, Dhaka in bigger scale in 1988, Sandwip area in 1990-91, and Sylhet area in 1990-91. The Club reconstructed 22 houses in and around Dhaka and in villages in Gazipur, Tongis , at a cost of Tk. 1,10,000 and also reconstructed Khairpur Primary School (Kishoregonj District and Sureshwar Primary School . The Club constructed tin sheds for ten poor families at a cost of Tk, 100,000 in 1991 at village Shawruphathirn Pirojpur. The club participted with Sylhet Midtown for malaria eradication programme.
The club further spent Tk. 26,000 for post flood reconstructions in two villages of Kishoregonj district in 1995-96, and provided flood relief worth Tk. 26,000 in 1998-99.
Ours was one of the few clubs, all the members of which contributed to the Rotary District Relief Fund in 1984-85.
The Club donated Tk. 20,000 to Governor's Relief fund for Urirchar cyclone victims and Tk. 5,000 to BRR Fund and Tk. 77,000 during 1998-99 to Governor's relief fund.
The Club reconstructed tornado damaged buildings of Monipur High School at Mirpur in 1976 and another house at Manikgonj. The Club distributed milk, food and vitamin A tablets to poor children and mothers at Mirpur and Savar for six months during 1996-97. The Club donated operating instruments to Maszidul Tuqwa Clinic and also donated money to 8 poor patients at National Medical Institute.
The Club took care of all the costs for open-heart surgery of a poor boy.
The Club also donated funds for the sport of disabled and distributed 15 shoeshine boxes to shoe-shiners.
As a regular porgramme over the last 15 years, the club distributed clothes to orphanage on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitar. The club also distributed clothes to the poor people at Savar and Sureshwar.
The Club organized 10 blood donation camps including one in Nepal, 5 family planning camps, organizes regular career guidance meetings with young boys and girls, one workshop on "Community Awareness for Blindness and Rehabilitation of the Blind". The then Prime Minister late Mr. Ataur Rahman Khan was the Chief Guest, and the Govt. accepted couple of recommendations of the workshop as policy.
The club with the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Dhaka jointly organized a Rotary-let talent competition.
One of our former Club members contributed Tk. 25,000 to Club Project Fund instead of having a marriage reception Ceremony in 1984. This unique contribution by Rotarian Jahangir was specially recognized by the then Governor late Azizul Haq.
The Club ran one Polio Plus centre at Mipur Rotary School for 9 years.The Club regularly participates in the National Immunization Day (NID) programmes.
The Club Organized 2 Adult Literacy Centers at Mirpur and at Khairpur (Kishoreganj) and continued their operations for 3 years.
The Club jointly hosted The Rotary District Conference in 1978. The Club also hosted District Assembly in 1979-80 and District Conference in 1987-88.
The Club sponsored 25 members of GSE team and two GSE team leaders.
The Club sponsored 65 Rotaractors to RYLA camps. Organized computer training with Rotaractors of the District 3280 during 1990-91.
The Club sponsored The Rotary Club of Sylhet Midtown and the Rotary Club of Dhaka Premier.
