Honorable Chief Guest, His excellency Lee Yun-young, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, District Governor Rtn. Safina Rahman, PDGs, District Governor elect Rtn. SAM Showket Hossain, District Governor Nominee Rtn. Mohammad Ayub, district officials, president of different Rotary Clubs and their spouses, our partners in service, members of the media, guests and fellow Rotarians. It is indeed a great honor and privilege for me to have the opportunity to well-come you all in our Club's 39th Installation Ceremony.
Since the inception, Rotary Club of Dhaka North west has provided dynamic and effective services to Rotary District 3281. For almost 20 years, it has played a vital role in Polio program in Bangladesh and thus contributed significantly in Polio eradication from Bangladesh. As a continuous organizer of NID program in Mirpur, I feel extremely proud for this achievement and want to express my gratitude to PDG Efftekhar Alam, PDG Selim Reza, PDG Jalaluddin, PDG ZainuL Abedin and all the members of RC of Dhaka North West for successfully endearing this challenge against Polio.
Over the years, our club has earned good reputation for it's service projects and the responsibility has now passed to our team to carry and retain the glory of the club and try to improve further. Let me assure you distinguished guests and my fellow members; we will try our best to carry forward the responsibility reposed to us. We will take up projects following the guidelines of the Future Vision Plan of Rotary International and also continue our signature projects, such as: Rotary School and College at Mirpur, Kidney Dialysis Center at Dhanmondi, Computer literacy center at Mohammadpur, Mother and child care project at Washpur and Safe Home for Girls (Orphans) at Gazipur. In addition to the above projects, we will continue our other service activities and programs like; Blood Donation Program in collaboration with Viyellatex group, Blanket, Computer and Goat distribution in North and South Bengal in co-operation with Rotary Clubs of the region, Free Friday Clinics, Nutrition Packet distribution to pregnant women, adult literacy program with an aim to make one village fully literate.
I am happy to share with you that very soon we will begin another project with the vision of establishing at least 20 girls as self -dependent. We will provide training to them on sewing and after successful completion of the training each girl will be awarded a sewing machine. Also, certain youths of the society will be provided adequate relevant training so that they can acquire various internet based jobs. This year our focus will be to pull out youths of our community from the curse of unemployment. Further, we will work for autistic children and try to propagate that they are indeed not burden on the society.
We are holding the installation event in September, which is the 'New Generation Month' in Rotary calendar.New Generation Month takes on a different meaning than the past, because youth service/ New Generations Services has been added as fifth avenue of services in Rotary's mandate.
Past RI President Luis Vicent Giay said, " The new generations are our investment in the future. Let us begin to build that future today".We will take up projects for the youth and also involve our Rotaractos and Interactors.
One of our primary focuses will be to work for the kidney failure patients and raise massive awareness regarding kidney related problems. While working in the kidney dialysis project, I noticed that the numbers of kidney failure patients are increasing in Bangladesh alarmingly. Unfortunately, the situation is getting worse day by day due to lack of proper knowledge and awareness. Therefore, we want to propagate substantial knowledge among the society in order to combat this crisis. Through our respectable DG Safina Rahman, I want to request all the rotary clubs of District 3281 that they set one kidney dialysis center in their districts. In this way, it will be possible to establish hkidney dialysis centers in all the major areas of RI district 3281 of Bangladesh. We Rotarians will be able to mitigate the pain of kidney dialysis patients and also through proper awareness we will be able to save millions from the terrible consequences of kidney failure.
We will continue our contribution to the Rotary Foundation to remain as one of the highest per capita donor clubs.
"Light up Rotary" is the Rotary International president Gary Huang's theme for us this year. We will do our best to respond to the call of RI president and extend our services to mitigate the sufferings of the underprivileged and needy people .
Immediate past president Laila Rosy and her team have done wonderful jobs in terms of service, have received individual recognition and have brought laurels for the clubs. Our team, along with all the Rotarians of my club will continue our endeavor to light up rotary and try to take the Rotary Club of Dhaka North West to a newer height. I want to convey my warmest gratitude to all my fellow Rotarians for their support in organizing this ceremony.
